Acciona IMOCA 69 Eco Powered with 26 kWh Mastervolt Lithium Ion Energy
The Acciona IMOCA 60 Eco Powered is the first IMOCA60 powered 100% with renewable energy. The boat has 480Ah/48V Lithium Ion system from Mastervolt with 6x160Ah/24V Lithium Ion batteries along with the hardware to balance an control the system. The boat has solar panels, wind- and water generators to generate power. This results in a 100% Eco Power generation and storage system.
Everything went smooth on the maiden voyage and the boat is en-route for the Barcelona-Cascais-La Rochelle race (more information at: http://www.europa-warmup.com).
The next challenge for this boat is the Vendee Globle. After powering two Volvo Ocean Race boats this will be another hard core application for the Mastervolt Lithium Ion batteries.
