Frisian Solar Challenge

Mastervolt International is the main sponsor of the Frisian Solar Challenge 2010. After just two editions, this race has already become the largest sustainable event in the Netherlands.
Every two years, a field of mainly young contestants from around the world race via the traditional locations on the route of the famous Elfstedentocht (Eleven Cities Tour) in the province of Friesland. The contestants sail in boats powered by solar energy and many use electric propulsion and inverters (for solar panels) developed by Mastervolt.

The event starts on Sunday 4 July with an attractive trial run along the canals of Leeuwarden, where the Frisian Solar Challenge will start and finish. Over the following six days the solar vessels will sail past the eleven Frisian cities. For more information see www.frisiansolarchallenge.nl.
