How we see 'The Power to be Independent'

Ben and Annemiek Rutte explain what Mastervolt’s motto ‘The power to be Independent’ means to them.

After five days at sea we cast our anchor. The wind has brought us to the Canary Islands much quicker than expected. Although the marina of Graciosa is full we have found a beautiful and sheltered berth. A stiff breeze is making the local windmills turn apace as we furl our mainsail and prepared to celebrate our arrival.

The scenery that surrounds us is stunning. The setting sun appears to light up the island and even the black volcanic rock is glowing a rich red. With a chilled glass of wine we toast to the success of our first major crossing.

Popping below deck I check the battery monitor. After four days of sailing and two hours on the engine our batteries remain almost full. The generator and intelligent charger have proven to be both smart and fast.
We stay at this magical location for another week, using our own power in this mesmerising place. This is how Mastervolt gives us ‘the power to be independent’.
