Mastervolt and Bösenberg are the first to showcase the new Volkswagen Crafter at IAA 2016

Electrical systems pioneer Mastervolt and its customer Bösenberg, a specialist in fitting out emergency service vehicles, have been asked by Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles to be the world’s first two companies to equip the new Crafter commercial range of vans with a fully functional, custom-built interior and electrical system.

The new Volkswagen Crafter is being introduced at the IAA Commercial Vehicles 2016 Fair in Hannover. To showcase the new vehicle and its special, innovative features it is being shown in various forms and shapes, including one vehicle that is equipped to be a firefighting command vehicle. The interior of this vehicle has been designed and built by Bösenberg, and equipped with a dedicated Mastervolt electrical system, with their Lithium Ion Ultra battery powering all the mission-critical AC and DC equipment onboard.

Apart from the custom interior, Mastervolt and Bösenberg have been asked to use and demonstrate one of the unique features of the Crafter, the ability for a specialist vehicle builder to have their (electrical) system monitored and controlled from the vehicle’s dashboard and/or through an app on a smartphone. To do so they achieved, for the very first time ever, the integration of the Mastervolt electrical system with the vehicle’s own CANbus system. The system that was created sets a new standard in its class in interior layout, in-vehicle automation and ease of use.

Mastervolt and Bösenberg are proud to be able to jointly present this solution which is the centrepiece in the Volkswagen exhibition hall at the IAA Commercial Vehicles 2016 Fair. With the new vehicle drawing a lot of attention, the audience of professional automotive users are guided to the joint Mastervolt/Bösenberg stand (Hall 13, stand 19E) at the fair, where a copy of the system is located. This stand is where Mastervolt shows the professional automotive visitors how they utilize their experience in harsh environments to create long-lasting, value-adding solutions for the automotive sector.
