http://www.mastervolt.com/press-releases/new-mastervolt-es-inverter-maximizes-energy-production-under-realistic-conditions1/
At Intersolar 2011, Stand B4.250, Mastervolt will showcase the first member of the brand new SunMaster ES series with a power rating of 4.6 kW. The Mastervolt philosophy behind the ES range is to maximize annual yield under realistic conditions even if they are less favourable.

The ES 4.6 can start early in the morning and continue late at night because of a low self-consumption of less than 10 W and an intelligent start-up sequence, which extends the operating hours up to 40 minutes a day. An improved dynamic MPP tracking reduces overall tracking losses to below 0.2% in the whole range of climatic conditions, including partial shading. A high system voltage reduces cable loss up to 75%. The peak efficiency reaches 97.5%, the EU efficiency 97.0%.

The devices of the ES series rarely stop feeding-in into the grid in the event of grid disturbances, which further increases the yield. The adaptive Optima Cooling ensures thermal stability and reduces the probability of power derating.

The ES concept is extremely versatile and is particularly easy to install and operate. Thanks to the wide input voltage range of 395-1000V the ES 4.6 can be used with a variety of PV modules, including all crystalline PV modules and numerous thin-film modules. The IP65-rated electronic housing offers protection against water and dust.

As with most other Mastervolt inverters, the ES 4.6 meets the German requirements on the reactive power performance of inverters. It is equipped with an AC plug for easy installation, integrated carrying handles, a bracket for wall mounting and a retractable communication module for easy cabling. Moreover, the ventilation module can be removed, making it easy to clean. Settings for over 20 countries have been pre-programmed. A large, intuitive display screen with a multimeter and a 30-day data logger makes the device complete.
New country regulations demand updated inverter hardware http://www.mastervolt.com/press-releases/new-country-regulations-demand-updated-inverter-hardware1/
The complete Mastervolt SunMaster XS series now complies with the French UTE C 15-712-1 regulations. In larger installations, where longer cables are required, this will help to reduce cable losses.

Mastervolt’s SunMaster XS series are in readiness for German VDE-AR-N 4105 regulations. As a result, the inverters will not shut down at a frequency of 50.2Hz, instead they will gradually reduce output power. Sixteen CS15 model inverters produce environmentally friendly power in six school buildings and three other county-buildings. For the total project 2,800 solar modules have been used, with an expected output of 467.500 kWh per year. The installations also supply data to display panels, letting pupils know exactly how much power is being generated from above them up on the roof.

The display panels are not the only attempt to make the use of solar power more tangible. The solar systems are also discussed in lessons, where their component parts, and how solar technology works, is explained to the children.

The project was financed through a national subsidy and a joint venture between the solar power plant's operator and a renewable energy supplier. The operator takes care of installing and running the system safely while the energy supplier purchases the power generated. People living near the schools are able to buy this solar power for their own needs, making the project more widely known locally.

Project ‘Zonnestroom’ has now been nominated for the most sustainable project 2011!
Inverters certified for First Solar modules http://www.mastervolt.com/press-releases/inverters-certified-for-first-solar-modules/
First Solar Inc. has certified Mastervolt inverters for use in systems featuring its thin-film solar modules. In order to be eligible for use under the full First Solar module warranty, inverters must be approved in the System Design and Application (SDA) process. All inverters of the current Mastervolt Sunmaster XL, XS and CS series have achieved the SDA standard required and can therefore be utilized with the First Solar FS-Series 2 and FS-Series 3 modules.

First Solar warrants the FS-Series 2 and 3 modules according to the First Solar Module Warranty Terms and Conditions provided the modules are installed, operated and serviced as described in the First Solar User Guide and in the System Design and Application document.

The aim of the First Solar system design and application (SDA) process is to ensure that solar installations containing First Solar modules operate reliably and achieve high system efficiencies. The location of the plant and installation of the modules are tested, as well as the plant design and operating conditions.

David Bassie, product manager solar at Mastervolt states: &#34Such approval from First Solar is further confirmation of the versatility of the Sunmaster’s system design. When developing Mastervolt inverters, this versatility is one of the most important goals. Our devices are intended to be suitable for use in the most diverse projects and with all solar modules. This allows installers to focus on a small number of devices types but yet meet the requirements of many different customers.&#34
MasterBus and CZone come together http://www.mastervolt.com/press-releases/masterbus-and-czone-come-together/
Since the integration of Mastervolt into the Marine division of Actuant Electrical the engineers at Mastervolt headquarters inAmsterdamand the BEP engineering team inNew Zealandhave been busy working together to provide a seamless connection between the two companies networked technologies into one system.

Both companies have extensive CAN based networked systems made up of Digital Switching, Systems Monitoring and Power Conversion devices. &#34Bringing the CZone and MasterBus systems together has been a relatively easy task&#34, says Jarrod Sagar, Global Product manager for Digital Switching at BEP, &#34as both companies had the same original philosophy for these systems, which was to bring all the points of control and monitoring of the on board systems onto one intuitive display, a central point and seamless automation simplifies boat use for the user.&#34

The engineering teams have developed ‘CZoneMasterBusBridge’ as the link between the MasterBus and CZone systems. The Bridge is a simple plug-in unit that reads both protocols and allows units from each manufacturer, and others such as Simrad that use BEP’s NMEA2000, to become fully compatible. This means that components such as pumps, alarms, battery chargers and monitors can be controlled from a single touch screen.

&#34The popular MasterShunt battery monitor and ChargeMaster battery charger can now be connected to a BEP marine network, which is based on NMEA2000,&#34 explained Marc Persoon, Mastervolt’s marketing manager. &#34As a result, the monitoring and control of the battery charger can now be done via the CZone display or other compatible display such as the multi-function marine navigation screens from Simrad andB&G. TheCZoneMasterBusBridge has been developed to connect two great systems together, and bring you the best of both worlds.&#34

As with all Mastervolt products, the Bridge is made from robust, corrosion resistant materials. The compact unit has strategically-placed screw holes allowing it to be attached to any convenient surface. Two simple 5-pin universal sockets facilitate the quick and simple connection of the two network cables, and an LED indicator shows the network status.

&#34By connecting the Bridge into an existing system, it will allow a boat owner to expand a boat’s systems without having to stick with just one manufacturer,&#34 Persoon stated. &#34This is just one example of the benefits of becoming part of an organization such as Actuant, where the pooling of expertise reaps huge benefits for the customer. Furthermore, the Bridge gives our OEMS a complete simple package: a networked system made up of the worlds best power conversion and digital switching products.&#34

&#34The inclusion of the Mastervolt product range and the integration highlights the BEP marine division strategy to be become a leading global supplier of integrated electrical system solutions and electrical components,&#34 says BEP’s Jarrod Sagar.

TheCZoneMasterBusBridgewere displayed at IBEX and METS, and is due for release in the first quarter of 2012. The bridge will include all the necessary connector cables and have a 2-year warranty.

DOWNLOAD DOCUMENT
RV Trade Show http://www.mastervolt.com/fairs-shows/rv-trade-show/ Unique training program for chinese OEM market http://www.mastervolt.com/press-releases/unique-training-program-for-chinese-oem-market/
Sunny Sun, Director of PSS, and Erik van Wilsum Commercial Manager (APAC & ME regions) for Mastervolt organized a 4 day professional product training and workshop for the Chinese OEM market and its dealer network. The merging of these two forces in 2011 celebrates the 20th Anniversary of Mastervolt and has secured Mastervolt’s long term ability to invest in exciting new innovations, a hallmark of the company to date, whilst Actuant has added another pool of expertise to its expanding portfolio.

Actuant is headquartered in Menomonee Falls inWisconsin,USA, and is listed on the New York Stock Exchange as NYSE:ATU. This diversified company has revenues of approximately US$1.5 billion, so clearly has a solid financial base. It operates globally in four main sectors; Industrial, Engineered Solutions, Energy and Electrical.

Actuant has operations in more than 30 countries, and is currently focused on enlarging its energy business, among others, because it expects long-term growth in this sector including solar power and other renewables. As Mastervolt has long been a pioneer of self-sustaining power systems for the marine industry, mobile units and residential premises, it has become an ideal business partner, and a very strong addition to the parent company.

In the Electrical division where Mastervolt resides, Actuant also owns other OEM and marine-related electrical specialists that will directly complement the Mastervolt brand. These include New Zealand-based BEP Marine, which manufactures DC switches and panels, and Marinco, the premier manufacturer of electrical and harsh environment solutions for a variety of worldwide markets. Mastervolt’s products are also rigorously designed to withstand the challenges of the open sea, which meshes perfectly with Actuant’s programme of harsh environment solutions for the medical, mobile, industrial and theatrical markets. Interaction between all of Actuant’s related companies is being encouraged as part of an accelerated corporate growth and innovation programme.

Aside from the obvious synergy of pooling of knowledge and resources, another huge boost to Mastervolt’s long-term future is the global distribution network that comes with belonging to such a large and multi-facetted international corporation. This will extend Mastervolt’s reach into brand new markets, and increase its own portfolio of products.

&#34Becoming part of Actuant has brought nothing but benefits for Mastervolt, and our wide-ranging customer base,&#34 explained Mastervolt’s Marketing Manager Marc Persoon. &#34The sheer power of Actuant, and its enthusiasm for pioneering electrical innovation, will be a tremendous boost to the cutting-edge work we do here. We now have access to a huge pool of expertise in associated fields, complimentary products, and a truly global distribution network. The new range is based on the popular CE connector, which is a so-called pin and sleeve connection. This new range is an extension of the existing Mastervolt twist and lock range.

The new range of shore connections comes in power ratings of 16A and 32A and different lengths of cables. In addition converter cables are available as well as extension cables and Y-splitters. All connections cables have moulded waterproof connection designed to survive the harsh marine environment. No salt water will corrode the connection and cause unreliable shore connections. A power indication LED will give you instant feedback on the availability of shore power.

The yacht mounted inlets are manufactured from high grade stainless steel (316) and polished. The quick lock mechanism allows opening even by cold hands after a winter trip. The inlet can be easily mounted by one person, which helps to speed up installation for the aftermarket and for OEM boatyards.

The specially designed power cable is ribbed to prevent it from rolling around on the deck or pontoon. This further enhances the safety features of the shore power connections as it reduces the risk of a person falling over if the cable is stood on as it does not roll around whilst laying on the deck,. Furthermore, the design makes it easier to butterfly the cable after use, and the ribs mean that cable stays cleaner due to the smaller direct contact area.

&#34The shore power cable is critical to a comfortable experience on board when in a harbour with AC power available,&#34 said Marc Persoon, Mastervolt’s Marketing Manager. &#34As with every other product we have listened carefully to our customers and based on that feedback we started a new development. We made improvements in many areas from installation, ease of use to durability. On top of all that we made this a real Mastervolt product by look and feel.&#34

Available in 16A and 32A versions, prices for Shore Power Connections start at: €119 ex vat for 16A cables, and €229 ex vat for 32A cables.

DOWNLOAD WORD DOCUMENT
Ideal performance onboard Camper Volvo Open 70 http://www.mastervolt.com/press-releases/ideal-performance-onboard-camper-volvo-open-70/
Following the announcement of the exciting partnership between Mastervolt, the Dutch-based manufacturer of premium electrical systems, and Emirates Team New Zealand, one of the strongest sailing teams in the world, Mastervolt has been working alongside the team in their position as Exclusive Team Supplier of batteries for the CAMPER project for the 2011-2012 Volvo Ocean Race to ensure the yacht is race ready and fully equipped with the best battery and electrical systems for the gruelling round the world challenge beginning in October.

Prior to the Volvo Ocean Race start, Emirates Team NewZealandand the crew of CAMPER have completed more than 8000 nautical miles onboard the Volvo Open 70, including their 2000 mile race qualifying sail. The pods can be steered to provide highly efficient directional thrust, making all vessels highly manoeuvrable. Another big advantage is that with no conventional drive shafts, gearboxes or engine couplings to align, the electrical power source can be located virtually anywhere on board.

The PodMaster was introduced to the Mastervolt range after Mastervolt acquired the leading Dutch electric propulsion specialist Bellmann in November 2009, and began to marry its complete power management expertise to Bellmann’s cutting-edge electrical drives.

Marc Persoon, Marketing Manager of Mastervolt, said, &#34We are delighted to receive the PBO Green Award as recognition of the progress we are making in becoming a more environmentally friendly company and completely endorse PBO’s efforts in raising the importance of ‘greener boating’ to the leisure boating market.&#34

The PodMaster is now available in a power range from 2kW to 10kW, which can effectively replace a combustion engine from 3hp to 36hp. Since Mastervolt specialises in every aspect of a boat’s power management system, with every component totally compatible and ‘hybrid ready’, the possibilities for a self-contained drive system are almost endless.

The larger PodMaster units also double as regenerators, so when a yacht is under sail, the torque in the free-wheeling propeller is harnessed to recharge the batteries. When supplemented by solar panels and/or a wind generator, and with the recharging efficiency optimised by the MasterBus system, a PodMaster-equipped boat could be virtually self-refuelling.

However, for yachts where maximum speed under sail is essential, a folding propeller version is available. This can also be coupled to the SailMaster series, where the electric motor is housed inside the hull, with just a slim saildrive leg protruding into the water.

Motorboats can fit single or twin PodMasters, either fixed before a rudder, or fully directional. The steerable versions can be linked to the main wheel, or steered independently. When angled at 90 degrees, for example, the PodMaster effectively doubles as a stern thruster. It can also be fitted as an auxiliary drive or trolling motor for a single-engine powerboat.

For naval architects, the PodMaster provides the opportunity to design a boat around the requirements of the accommodation, without the need to house a large inboard engine. Cooled by the surrounding water, the PodMaster is maintenance-free apart from the usual anode change.

&#34We’re really excited at the success of the PodMaster,&#34 said Marc Persoon, Mastervolt’s Marketing Manager. &#34It opens up so many possibilities for boat builders and boat restorers, freeing up internal space and allowing for silent, fuel-efficient propulsion from affordable and renewable sources. Mastervolt’s acquisition of Bellmann has led to a highly productive merging of expertise, and has allowed us to really push the envelope of highly efficient, easily installed electrical propulsion. We’re also actively developing even more powerful units for the future, all designed around Mastervolt’s extensive range of CAN-bus controlled power management systems.&#34

Prices for the PodMaster range from £4,000 - £10,000 ex VAT, depending on specification and power rating.
