Aquafax

Our ‘Meet the Distributor’ posts introduce our partners and showcases the vital work they do. This time, we’ve spoken to Aquafax in the UK.

Tell us about yourselves and how long you have been working with Mastervolt?

Aquafax was founded in 1982 and is now the UK’s leading technical distributor of marine equipment. We supply to all sectors of the market, from installing dealers and retailers to UK boat builders and refit yards. Aquafax officially started working with Mastervolt in September 2008 and have recently renewed a multi-year distribution agreement.

What are the key Mastervolt products you sell, and to what type of customers?

We aim to provide the right solution to our customers and being able to offer the full Mastervolt range of equipment enables us to service and support a diverse customer base. Whether our customers require a single stand-alone charger or are looking at a bespoke integrated solution for digital switching, control, and monitoring, we have the expertise to guide people through the design, spec and sales process and can then support customers with their installations in the field.

What is your favourite thing about selling Mastervolt products?

We are privileged to be able to work with some great market leading brands, and whilst we invest heavily in training and personnel to support our customers, it is great to know that we have a fantastic team at Mastervolt who can truly support us and our customers. Product innovation is also key and Mastervolt have made significant advancements with their technology in recent years. It great to be partnered with such an innovative and forward-thinking brand.

There have been huge advances in the technology used with power electronics in recent years. What has been the biggest change or development for you?

There are two distinct areas of technology that now provide huge benefits to our customers. Firstly, Lithium technology has been a game changer. It significantly improves speed of charging, offers higher energy density (at least double the energy in the same space), the batteries are light weight, offer constant power delivery and a greater depth of discharge. What’s not to like? Secondly, everyone is now requesting truly integrated systems. Mastervolt offer this through the C-Zone system, enabling customers to have full monitoring and control from their boat’s helm display, as well as off the boat on a tablet or phone. We also distribute Navico products – a sister division to Mastervolt in the Advanced Systems Group by Brunswick. B&G and Lowrance offer full integration with C-Zone and Mastervolt – we are in a fantastic position to provide support to customers on these larger projects.

How have you seen the market changing over the last few years towards these new and emerging technologies?

The technology required varies from customer to customer, however we are seeing all sorts of vessels and owners looking toward newer technology. Mastervolt have some great case studies on both new vessel installations and refit projects, and these reflect what is going on in the UK marker also. For example: The Delta Powerboats flagship and the Ultramodern electrical system for traditional fishing vessel

How have you and your team had to adapt to be able to support these technical systems?

We have always placed great emphasis on technical knowledge and expertise and have made significant investment in training our staff to ensure we are best placed to support new technology. This investment continued in 2021 with the opening of our new technical support and training facility at Hamble, with dedicated support personnel to look after the Mastervolt and Advanced Systems Group brands.

Can you tell us about any exciting projects you are working on?

Aquafax have been busy behind the scenes planning plenty of shows and events for 2022, making full use of Mastervolt’s purpose-built Demo Van. We will give people the opportunity to learn more about the very latest technology, including lithium-ion batteries, power inverters and battery charging solutions at events across the UK.

Not only that, Aquafax are excited to be adding even more industry leading brands to their portfolio and expanding their product range throughout 2022, allowing us to keep in line with customers ever-changing needs and requirements.
