New powerful, smart charging options from Mastervolt

Mastervolt, part of Advanced Systems Group (ASG) by Brunswick, is pleased to announce the arrival of four new ChargeMaster Plus models – the 12/35-3, 12/50-3, 24-20-3 and the 24/30-3. These models have 3 outputs capable of delivering the maximum current for fast charging, and the pre-float available on all outputs eliminates the risk of overcharging (each output can individually go into pre-float, which means voltage is no longer applied when needed), keeping full charge current available for the other outputs. Quieter, smaller and lighter weight than previous designs, the latest additions to the ChargeMaster Plus family are easy to install in places where space is limited, and are perfectly usable as a plug-and-play standalone battery charger or as part of a larger system.

All-in-one for faster and safer charging

These new ChargeMaster Plus models join a family of Mastervolt chargers that integrates multiple functions into one single device. The chargers reduce the complexity and cost of multiple battery installations by incorporating all the additional components, including auxiliary chargers, battery isolators and VSR, into one strongly built cabinet. The chargers also have built-in priority charge, which redirects available power to the lowest battery, for faster charging, and a revival mode to automatically revive batteries should they ever become fully depleted.

The ChargeMaster Plus family uses the Mastervolt automatic 3-Step+ charge algorithm and comes with predefined charge profiles for all commonly used battery types, including lithium-ion, as well as flexibility for custom user-defined profile. Built to Mastervolt’s exacting standards for rugged dependability, the ChargeMaster Plus all-in-one solution simplifies multiple-battery charging systems, offers faster and safer charging with everything in one cabinet, and represents the best value for money.

Powerful communications with integration

In modern applications, all electrical components work together. All ChargeMaster Plus models have the addition of a system protocol that enables the charger to communicate with displays, shunts and power systems including communication standards like CZone® and NMEA 2000, without the needs for additional interfaces. This wide ranging communication functionality makes every ChargeMaster Plus ideally suited for wider system integration.

Global charging

As with all Mastervolt products, the ChargeMaster Plus range has been designed for versatility, and can work from local voltages and frequencies anywhere in the world. Mastervolt designs all its systems to be easy to install and easy to operate. This is clearly seen in the ChargeMaster Plus, which displays the charge phase of all outputs in an intuitive way. The connections are robust and ergonomic, making for quick installation times.

Applications

The ChargeMaster Plus range is ideal for blue water yachts and RVs that demand that little bit extra from the onboard charging facilities. In addition to handling all global grid voltages, it also resists large voltage spikes and high temperatures. This is useful in places where power supplies are erratic and unreliable, and also helps protect any sensitive equipment that may be connected to the DC system during charging. The electronics are built to operate in harsh environments, a trademark of Mastervolt’s product range, and are fully compliant with all the key certifying authorities.

A ChargeMaster Plus system

The new four models can be used with all types of batteries (lithium ion, gels and AGMs). A great option would be the new MLI Ultra 1250, this user friendly 1250Wh LiFePO4 lithium battery is just like the ChargeMaster Plus available in a 12V and 24V model. This combination will deliver great power out of a very small system, and the new ChargeMaster Plus models will  be able to quickly recharge the Lithium battery when connected to a 230V power source. For example the time it would take for the MLI Ultra 1250 12V to be recharged from 20% DoD (depth of discharge) to 100% using the ChargeMaster Plus 12/50 would be about 1.5 hours. With the 24V option, the MLI Ultra 120 24V could be recharged from 20% DoD to 100% using the ChargeMaster Plus 24/30 in just 1 to 1.5 hours.

Upgrading to the ChargeMaster Plus

The ChargeMaster Plus range is perfectly suited for drop-in replacement of a previous generation ChargeMaster. Mounting positions can be re-used, and no drill is required when switching the mounting bracket.
