The main driver is the AC power coming from an inverter instead of a generator. In many countries it is forbidden by law to transport tools and parts in a vehicle which is not connected to a rack. An inverter is often integrated in such a rack to operate as the generator, fixed to the walls. One it is applications is to operate as the AC power source for fridges and freezers during the driving period. In Germany, for example, it is not allowed to transport grocery products and meat without cooling. Mastervolt products are nowadays increasingly used for mobile applications. One of the main drivers is the trend that vehicles are fitted with AC, which was traditionally provide by petrol generators. The users have discovered however that a static inverter is a much better solution as no noise or fumes are created. In addition, an inverter is a fixed part of the installation and cannot ‘disappear’ all of a sudden. Power ratings from 100 Watt up to 5 kWatt can be addressed with an inverter, while for large power requirements a real super silent Whisper genset is available.
